DIBC Members,

A few weeks ago, the President signed Executive Order 14220, which directs the Department of Commerce to investigate the impacts of foreign copper imports on national security and the industrial base.  The Department of Commerce is actively evaluating this matter, and published a Request for Public Comments to solicit information from the public and U.S. companies on the importance of copper, the impact of foreign copper imports on domestic production, and supply chain risks for copper.

We encourage DIBC members to review the Request for Comments and consider responding if there is value to your organization.  Comments must be received by April 1, and should be submitted per the instructions within the notice.

The Request for Public Comment is published here: https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2025/03/13/2025-04061/notice-of-request-for-public-comments-on-section-232-national-security-investigation-of-imports-of
